DENVER—Graebel Companies, Inc. sadly announced the retirement of Al Powers, Senior Vice President of Safety and Driver Development after 15 years of service.

Under the guidance of Mr. Powers, Graebel has earned some of the highest honors and awards given by the trucking industry, including several awards from the American Moving and Storage Association and the American Movers Conference. In addition, Mr. Powers was named the American Trucking Association’s Safety Director of the Year in 1998—the first, and only, household goods winner of this prestigious award.

“We have been extremely privileged to have someone with Al’s vast experience on the Graebel team,” says Ben Graebel, CEO of Graebel Companies, Inc. “His extensive knowledge and understanding have greatly assisted in our continuing growth and development, and he will be missed.”

A 30-year industry veteran, Mr. Powers served as Graebel’s Vice President of Safety for over half of his career. Mr. Powers completed college in Nebraska and served for 10 years in the Marine Corps, including two years of service in Vietnam in which he flew more than 120 combat missions. Upon leaving the service, he returned to school and received his law degree while employed with his first trucking company.

“I want to thank the Graebel family, and most of all David Graebel, for the last 15 years of opportunity, challenge, and enjoyment. To all the Graebel employees, thank you for bringing joy into my life by sharing a little bit of your life with me,” says Mr. Powers.

Bill Stannard, Vice President of Safety and Driver Development, will continue the advancement of Graebel’s safety initiatives instituted byMr. Powers.
