GRAEBEL TAKES PROACTIVE APPROACH TO PREPARE FOR NEW FEDERAL SAFETY REGULATIONS

August 25, 2010

AURORA, Colo. — Recently, the Graebel Companies, Inc. released a white paper to its clients regarding the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association’s (FMCSA) new Comprehensive Safety Analysis (CSA) that is currently being tested prior to nationwide rollout. The pilot program is being tested in nine states, including Colorado where Graebel is one of the trial participants.

FMCSA plans to roll out their new CSA nationwide in Spring 2011. This new safety methodology will hold both carriers and drivers accountable for safety performance. Carriers and drivers will be evaluated on a monthly basis using seven safety performance categories called Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories (BASICs). FMCSA will issue a warning and establish a timeline for corrective action for any carrier or driver who receives a deficient score. If the problem persists, FMCSA may take measures as extreme as leveraging penalties or shutting down a carrier.

Graebel takes a proactive approach to safety and risk management, resulting in near perfect, on-time interstate pick-up and delivery performance. As a charter member of the American Moving & Storage Association’s (AMSA) ProMoverSM program, which helps relocation professionals and individuals identify professional and legitimate moving companies, Graebel is dedicated to delivering value and high quality moving and storage services.  As a private and wholly owned organization, Graebel maintains strict control over its standards of operation, household goods service performance, equipment maintenance requirements, and eco-friendly practices.  Consequently, Graebel delivers stress-free and best-in-class moving and storage services. Based on FMCSA’s current system, SafeStat®, Graebel has the best inspection selection score for major van lines during 2010 peak moving season.

“Our entire team – from our professional drivers, to our safety department, to our operations and fleet management – comprise the backbone of our organization,” explained Bill Graebel, chief executive officer of the Graebel Companies, Inc. “We are fortunate to have conscientious, accountable, and effective people who are helping us achieve our goal of being the safest and most reliable carrier in America.”
